Cast Steel Shot and Grit
Steel Shot | Angular Shot | Steel Grit | Features and
Benefits
National Metal Abrasive produces high quality cast steel
shot and grit used for a wide range of applications, from sand removal
for foundry products to shot peening in the aeronautics
industry.
Steel abrasive comes in round (shot) or angular
(grit) form, ranging from 0.004 to 0.11 in. in
size. It is produced by the atomization of molten
steel, followed by a series of thermal and mechanical
treatments in order to give the product is final
characteristics.
The production process is highly controlled and the
plant has recently upgraded to
ISO 9001:2000 Registration for the
high quality of its products. |

"No Chlorides Added" Abrasives
National Metal Abrasive cast steel shot and grit is manufactured
with no addition of cosmetic chemical coatings of any
kind. No soluble salts, in form of nitrites or
chlorides, are introduced into the manufacturing
process. In fact, National Metal Abrasive's unique heat treatment
methods of air quenching eliminate the potential of exposure
to non-visible, soluble contaminants which may be present in
alternate, water-quench practices.
Air quenching, as applied by
National Metal Abrasive, provides contaminant-free surfaces
and superior particle integrity with minimal stress
cracking.
